Warmth, care and connection
Core to everything Julia does is meeting people where they are at
Julia undertook additional time training in high-risk obstetrics and is experienced in caring for patients with pre-existing medical conditions and and a history of pregnancy complications. She has worked in a range of locations and setting including suburban Melbourne, Mildura, remote and regional communities across central Australia and the
Fiji Islands.
Julia is currently completing a Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound with the Australian society of Ultrasound Medicine and loves integrating ultrasound into clinical obstetric practice. She holds a public appointment as an obstetrician at the Mercy Hospital for Women working in the Early Pregnancy Assessment Service (EPAS), the antenatal clinic and labour and delivery suite as well as proving ultrasound teaching for junior doctors.
Dr Julia Francis

Outside of clinical practice, Julia loves spending time with her family including a supportive husband, 3 gorgeous young children and their family dog ‘Peggy’.
Her other passion is health and fitness, and much of her spare time is spent pursuing running goals having recently completed her first ultramarathon. This interest in health and fitness also plays a key part in patient care and Julia loves helping patients keep active and achieve fitness goals during pregnancy.
